We would like to take the opportunity to introduce our new Township Clerk, Brian Waldee. Brian was born and raised in North Fort Myers for most of his life and graduated from North Fort Myers High School in 1990. After graduating, he joined the United States Navy and served for 20 years, retiring as a Gunner’s Mate First Class Petty Officer (Surface Warfare Qualified). He served on five combat ships and other special commands, working with annual budgets of up to 10 million and government contracts up to 150 million.
Upon his retirement from service, he decided to attend college at ECPI University, earning an Associates of Applied Science in Culinary Arts, graduating summa cum laude. He continued to earn two more bachelor’s degrees, one in Business Management (magna cum laude) and the second in Business Administration with an emphasis in Hospitality Management (cum laude).
Once armed with his degrees, he started his new career in the restaurant industry. He quickly moved through the ranks from line cook to General Manager, showing his dedication to his new craft like he showed during his military service.
In 2017, he moved with his family to Kawkawlin to help with the assistance of a family member. Locally, he used his skills to work for the Salvation Army as the Kitchen Manager and Café Zinc.
In 2020, he decided to take a break and retire. It took some encouraging to get him to help in Kawkawlin Township’s Treasurers Office but he quickly identified ways to use his military training and education to make a positive impact. His pride and attention to detail are a constant, always encouraging others while remaining professional, even under criticism.
